What's changing?

A new "Specified Residence Card" combining the residence card and My Number Card into one will be issued. Both sets of information stored in a single IC chip, enabling one-stop administrative procedures.

📝 How to apply

  • Apply at nearest immigration office or municipal office

  • Issued approximately 2–3 weeks after application

Voluntary or mandatory?

Switching to the Specified Residence Card is voluntary (not mandatory). Existing residence cards and My Number Cards remain valid. However, switching is recommended at your next period of stay renewal.

📦 What happens to old cards?

Existing residence cards and My Number Cards can continue to be used until their expiry dates. If you switch to the Specified Residence Card, old cards must be returned.
